DATATEC GROUP

Datatec believes that its employees are a key driver of its success and relies on their knowledge and skills. Employees are aligned with the Group's purpose and are expected to uphold its values. They are a key stakeholder group whose needs and expectations are recognised and focused on.

Datatec employs over 10 000 employees across more than 50 countries. The Group strives to attract and retain employees of the highest calibre to uphold performance and build sustainability, and in parallel prioritises optimal working conditions and opportunities for development. The Group seeks to develop skills and talent inherent in its workforce.

We create value for our employees through engagement programmes, education, training and development, rewards and recognition and long-term and short-term incentives. This, in turn, ensures that our employees are motivated and engaged and contribute positively to the Group's performance and ultimate success.

The Group is an equal opportunities employer and is committed to a working environment that is free from discrimination in every region in which it operates. The divisions accord completely with this commitment. All reported incidents are investigated and if substantiated, a disciplinary inquiry will be convened, the outcome of which may lead to termination of employment.

At Datatec, we have recognised that innovation drives the creation of value for our business and for the world; and that when people from diverse backgrounds work together, the more innovative and creative that team is likely to be. Each of Datatec's subsidiaries has made a commitment to accelerating diversity, equity and inclusion in the workplace, and given its importance as part of the fabric of our culture at Datatec, we plan to relaunch the Datatec values in FY23, adding "inclusive" to our five core values.

Datatec is committed to supporting our people through every aspect of their wellbeing journeys. We encourage and support the cultivation of good health habits, the achievement of clarity and balance, and opportunities to stay connected to each other and with our communities.

LOGICALIS

  • Overall, Logicalis' female employees grew by 5% in FY22 and females in leadership roles grew by 8%
  • Over 7 000 employees

A great place to work

Logicalis recognises that its people are critical to the ongoing success of the business. By striving to attract the best talent, develop and reward its people for great performance and engage effectively with them, Logicalis aims to optimise the performance of the division. Logicalis aims to be an employer of choice and was recognised in FY22 as being a "Great Place to Work" in 12 countries, and also received regional recognition for Latin America.

Developing talent

In Logicalis, the focus on advanced technologies requires a high level of technical expertise. Management works closely with its vendors to ensure that employees are trained appropriately and have the necessary accreditations.

In the interests of its long-term sustainability and in order to develop and retain its top leadership talent, Logicalis has established a series of international development programmes. It also invests in the development of its technical leadership teams through a programme aimed at developing more rounded business professionals and increasing international collaboration across Logicalis. This programme has contributed to 71% retention and 33% promotion rate.

Logicalis runs a globally aligned high-potential development programme for employees who demonstrate the right mindset and capability to move into more substantial leadership roles in the future.

Rewarding performance

Most employees at Logicalis have performance objectives which are linked to the strategy of the local business. Talent and succession management reviews of the leadership team in each business are held annually, to focus on the retention and development of Logicalis top leadership talent and effective succession management.

Continuous listening to employees

To enable Logicalis to understand what its employees think and feel about working for Logicalis, a continuous listening 'Pulse' platform gives business leaders access to real-time feedback and analytics from their teams. Improvement opportunities can be easily identified, followed up by action plans which managers and employees agree upon together.

Living its values

Logicalis has a set of values and competency framework, which helps develop a common identity across all operations. It clarifies what behaviours it takes to be successful in Logicalis, and these are often used in recruitment, 360 feedback and individual performance and development discussions. Employees can also nominate each other for value awards for living the values through a 'values' app.

Diversity, equity, and inclusion

Logicalis recognises that when people from diverse backgrounds work together, the more innovative and creative that team is likely to be. It has therefore made a commitment to increase the number of women and minority groups in the division.

In 2021, Logicalis launched its Logicalis Global Inclusion Council, a team of global leaders who drive the creation of strategic accountability and actions to help deliver diversity and inclusion objectives, provide governance, and oversight on diversity efforts, and promote division-wide communication on progress. The council ensures that Logicalis continues to create an inclusive work environment, celebrate diversity, and engage and empower its people to reach their full potential.

In 2021, Logicalis was able to achieve a significant increase in female participation in its 'High Potential' and 'Leadership Academy' programmes across the world. In FY22, Logicalis rolled out division-wide training on unconscious bias and micro-behaviours, as well as inclusive leadership training for over 200 leaders.

Human resources digital transformation

Logicalis has embarked on creating global organisation structures for services and centres of excellence for the division's global solution offerings, with leaders managing people across country borders for the first time. A human capital management platform was introduced which will help leaders to effectively manage their employees around the world. The platform was successfully launched across multiple regions in FY22 and is now used in 15 operations across Logicalis.

Diversity and inclusion

Westcon International's culture is built on a foundation of inclusion. The ONE Westcon programme raises awareness internally and supports in areas relating to diversity, inclusion and empowerment. It enables Westcon International's people to celebrate its diversity globally and ensure its employees feel included and respected regardless of their, gender, race, religion, sexual orientation, physical conditions, cultural background or country of origin.

As a global business, Westcon International believes that through providing an inclusive culture, its employees will be motivated to make outstanding contributions and that the best environment comes from a workforce that reflects the world around us. Different ideas and perspectives help the division innovate, learn, thrive, and grow in a sustainable way. That is why the executive team and entire organisation is fully committed to creating a diverse and inclusive workplace.

In the UK, Westcon International has partnered with the charity Migrant Leaders, who help to inspire and develop young migrants into the UK to broaden their horizons and capture opportunities beyond their aspirations. The activities undertaken through this partnership will be used as a template in other countries to help under-represented young people in our communities to learn about opportunities in a business such as Westcon International.

Westcon International is committed to ensuring equal pay and continues to monitor potential differences in gender pay in adherence to government guidelines. Gender pay is broadly in line with industry. However, there remains a focus on encouraging more women into technical support roles.

Recruiting the best talent

Westcon International's strategy clearly articulates that the core strength of its division is its people. Attracting, developing and retaining the best employees across its international business will enable Westcon International to deliver its business priorities and goals.

With the effects of the global pandemic, Westcon International is committed to establishing and maintaining a hybrid working environment with remote/home working flexibility as a part of its talent retention approach in a changing world of "work is what you do...not where you do it".

Supportive environment

Employee wellbeing is a priority, encompassing physical, mental and emotional, community and social, as well as financial wellbeing. Westcon International is committed to a wellbeing vision, that will enable the division to support its employees' health and talent outcomes in order to maintain long-term performance and achieve its strategic business objectives.

Mental health awareness is now a year-round focus with regular communications and events. Employee engagement is a key focus and an annual employee survey is conducted to get a better understanding of employee morale, satisfaction, and engagement. Open and honest feedback is encouraged which is fundamental to shaping Westcon International's development. Survey responses have been instrumental in setting direction for future key focus areas and ultimately make Westcon International more successful and an even better place to work.

Early careers

Westcon International's 'Level Up' programme is designed to attract interns, graduates and apprentices to enhance their ability to follow their chosen career path in the future.

  • The Westcon apprenticeship scheme was awarded the CRN Award (Distributor) for Best Apprenticeship Programme 2021
  • Apprentices were offered permanent roles in the UK, Spain, South Africa and the United States
  • There are also apprenticeships in Germany, France, the Netherlands, the Middle East, South Africa, Singapore, China and Taiwan
  • WestconGroup SA continues to invest in the upskilling of youth through several learnership programmes. One of the programmes was run in partnership with the LFP Group to upskill disabled individuals from disadvantaged groups within South Africa. Another programme has a specific focus on network and cyber security

Diversity, equity, and inclusion continues to be highly important to Analysys Mason. Last year, a structured training programme, the 'Female Executive Coaching Programme for Female Consultants' was launched. Positive feedback has been received from participants so far.

During FY22, recruitment practices have been advanced to mitigate bias during the selection process. At screening stage, "blind hiring" has been trialled where CV review is replaced with assessments for all applicants along with short pre-recorded video question and answers. The proportion of first interviews to offers has decreased significantly suggesting that this is both a more predictive as well as fairer, less open to bias screening process.

Key employee wellbeing trends that Analysys Mason has focused on:

  • Mental health wellbeing: mental health apps, wellbeing webinars, mental health first aiders, etc.
  • Social wellbeing: good company culture, work life balance, relationship building, etc.
  • Physical wellbeing: Health insurance, exercise sessions, etc.
  • Career wellbeing: Access to learning, development, coaching and mentoring programmes, etc.

In FY23, focus will be placed on financial wellbeing.

In April 2021, Analysys Mason received the Queens Award for Enterprise, which recognises British businesses and other organisations who excel at international trade, innovation, sustainable development or promoting opportunity (through social mobility). The award is the highest official UK award for British businesses.
