Responsible business overview and strategy
Datatec is resolute in its commitment to doing business responsibly. We believe that cultivating long-term value for shared prosperity is critical to our business. We continued to accelerate our efforts to ensure inclusive opportunities and a positive societal impact in FY23 across our divisions, consistently driving ESG initiatives in our operations worldwide. This forms part of our responsible business practices, which encompass a holistic view that considers many aspects of the business, from our carbon footprint and overall sustainability to the number of women in our teams.
While the foundations of our global business have always been built on the core principles of ESG, over the last two years Datatec has worked to accelerate its responsible business efforts. Beginning in 2021 with formalisation of the responsible business strategy, we began with a focus on communicating and adopting; in which executive buy-in, employee buy-in, and the establishment of a global responsible business champions network and committee were prioritised to enable us to drive our strategy and objectives forward.
In FY23, Datatec's responsible business agenda focused on internal execution and the formalisation of targets. Efforts were geared towards operationalising our broader responsible business strategy and bringing it to life through a number of initiatives executed within Datatec's four main pillars of responsible business, namely our communities, our people, our planet and governance and communication.

The year ahead: FY24
Developing an understanding of the responsible business topics most pertinent to our business and our key stakeholders is crucial to Datatec's strategic plans and reporting. In the first quarter of FY24, Datatec will undertake its next full materiality assessment, which will serve to identify its critical responsible business topics for the years ahead. Datatec's responsible business strategy will continue to be adapted and extended to ensure that its work remains as impactful as possible.
Datatec will continue to work to align its reporting with standards set by the JSE, Global Reporting Initiative ("GRI"), Sustainability Accounting Standards Board ("SASB"), the TCFD, and CDP and will continue to align its efforts to the UN Global Compact and the sustainable development goals.
Data management and data accuracy are a priority, and with vast improvements made over the past year, we will continue to focus on gathering quality data and improving measurement while implementing the use of our cloud-based dashboard. We prioritise transparency around our activities and their environmental impact, and will progressively increase communication around our efforts in mitigating environmental harm and the standards we hold ourselves accountable to. In FY24, we will release our first responsible business report.
